Yi
yi zi yi ri
一 字 一 日
Since the title of my website is Chinese Character A Day, we will begin by translating that title into Chinese and start with
YI 一
The word Yi 一 is the most commonly used word in Chinese. It is pronounced like the letter E but in the first tone: a high, level tone with the E held constantly.
Yi 一 has many meanings: one, alone, single, whole, each, all, throughout.
Thanks. I am Chinese, but need a lot of help remembering everything since I have forgotten when I started preschool
Very intriguing so far, Adeline! Can you include more pronunciations, such as yi zi yi (day)? And an explicit explanation of each tone, as you did with yi? (e.g., how do you describe the fourth tone?)
Thank you so much. I am so excited to start. My friends in China will be so surprised!
Yay for Adeline!
Thanks Adeline your so special to be up to the challenge to teach lots of people this language! Do you think you can manage? I believe that you can and will you have courage, faith and stength!
